Another clever design by Body Solid, our Powerline PFID125X review will show you why this strong and sturdy folding weight bench is such a popular choice. Another reason for its popularity is because of how reasonably priced this bench has always been.
Manufactured by a company with over 25 years experience who goes by their motto “Built For Life” any product made by Body Solid is one you can trust.
A great entry level workout bench which is perfect for most home gym users. There are many reasons why you should buy a folding weight bench and you’ll see even more reason to do so, once you’ve read our Powerline PFID125X review below. If you preferred a bench for experienced users then we suggest taking a look at our weight bench comparison.
Having a bench with more adjustable positions is definitely more advantageous as it gives you more options to find a comfortable position for your workouts. There are 7 positions ranging from -17 ° to 85°. The decline position is fairly steep on this bench which is ideal for sit ups or decline bench press.
Easily folds away
Really ideal if you’re tight on space or if you don’t want to leave the bench permanently out. In fact, this Powerline folding bench can easily fold up in 2 simple steps, so it can be stored away when it’s not in use. Can fit under some beds as it’s only 9 inches in height when folded up!
Another great alternative bench is the popular Bowflex 5.1s Stowable Bench, which is designed to reduce footprint by being placed upright. This does come with a bigger price tag but it’s also a very versatile weight bench.
Already relatively lightweight at 45 lbs, however, the transportation wheels attached to the bottom makes manoeuvring the bench from one place to another a lot easier.
If DIY is not one of your strengths or you just simply don’t have the time, then the PFID125X is ideal for you as it already comes preassembled. Some users can spend hours assembling a bench!
Feet hold down bar
As the decline position can go to quite a steep angle, the feet hold down bar will be very useful for holding your body in position.
Maximum weight capacity
Supports up to a total of 500 lbs which is your own body weight plus the weights. Despite having a lower maximum weight capacity, this is still a sturdy bench.
Covered by a generous 10 year manufacturer’s warranty on the frame, but only 1 year on all parts. Not bad at all for a bench that’s very affordable!
Dimensions – 57″L x 16″W x 18″H
Weight – 45 lbs
What can be improved
Narrow back pad
Bottom of the back pad starts off at 10.25 inches wide and at the headrest where it ends, the width narrows to 8.25 inches. For people with a wider upper body this can be an issue.
Maximum weight limit
Sturdiness and stability is rarely questioned when it comes to this bench, however, the maximum weight limit doesn’t lie. It’s still not going to be able to support as much as a bench with a weight capacity of 800 lbs.
Locking bar position
Locking bar for the feet is too close to the ground, so this may cause problems particularly when doing decline exercises.
A very minor issue which wouldn’t bother most people. Comes wrapped in plastic when it arrives and when you remove the plastic, some of the plastic will still be stuck between the frame and cushion.
Although this excess plastic wrap can be removed by unbolting the parts where it’s stuck to. It’s great that it’s wrapped to give the bench sufficient protection, but, perhaps it doesn’t need to be wrapped up completely.
Fitness Reality 1000 Super Max
Not only is this bench a cheaper alternative, but it can also support up to a maximum of 800 lbs, which is pretty damn good! Furthermore, the feet hold down bar can also be adjusted to 3 positions! However, like with anything, the Powerline PFID125X will have its advantages over this bench such as a much longer warranty period.
Gymenist Foldable Bench
An even cheaper bench that’s more compact when folded up! The Gymenist bench can be folds up 3 times, so it does become extremely compact that it can fit inside small tight spaces. It supports up to 600 lbs, so slightly more than the Powerline, although the Powerline is still probably built with better materials.
Now that we’ve come to the end of our Powerline PFID125X review, you’ll have to decide whether this folding bench is worth considering. Although there are more and more foldable benches becoming available on the market for pretty cheap, many of them are not built as well as this one.
The fact that this bench is made by Body Solid gives it much more credibility over cheaper alternatives. There’s a reason why Body Solid offers a generous warranty period, it is because they have confidence in their product.
If however you are still after a folding weight bench but you feel you need one even more durable and designed to support heavy workouts then our Body Solid GFID225 review is also worth looking at.
