There are plenty of exercises you can do on a weight bench to target various upper body muscles but more importantly the chest muscles (Pectorals). The chest is the primary foundation to building other upper body muscles and you can’t build muscle if the foundation is weak!

Different Types Of Weight Benches
Choosing the best exercise bench for yourself really depends on what type of bench is the most suitable according to what you what to achieve from training. Below we’ve explained the different types of weight benches:
A flat bench doesn’t really allow a wide range of exercises, as the bench is not adjustable and doesn’t tend to have any attachments. The main exercises people usually use a flat bench for is dumbbell bench press, seated bicep curls, tricep dips and skullcrushers.
Also referred to as dumbbell benches. This type of bench is the more popular choice as it comes in many forms of variation. All adjustable benches can be adjusted to different positions, they can be adjusted to flat, incline, some will go to an upright 90 degree angle or close to a 90 degree angle and some will have a decline setting.
The weight equipment used for this type of bench are dumbbells, but the good thing is if you add a Squat Rack to any dumbbell bench then you can also do bench press and shoulder press exercises with an olympic bar, so you’re pretty much gaining the same benefit an olympic bench gives you.

A folding weight bench is pretty much the same as an adjustable weight bench but the difference is a folding weight bench can fold flat to be stored away in convenient places like under the bed.
The idea is that this type of weight bench is suitable for people who have limited space at home as it’s light and portable, but even if you have the available space don’t rule out the best folding weight benches as it is very well built and sturdy just like the top adjustable benches are.
Sometimes also referred to as a decline bench, abdominal benches are set at a steep decline position designed to work your abs. Some are adjustable to change the angle or the height, but most are generally fixed in a decline position to give you a wider range of motion when doing your abdominal exercises.

Warranty – Buying a weight bench is for long term use for most people so because you pay quite a big upfront cost, you would want reassurance that you’ll get many years of use out of it.
